Do not go to the other extreme like my friend Christopher did. When he was very new in the
online poker scene, we told him all about free poker rooms and the games. He loved it so much that after more than a year of patronizing half a dozen rooms, he still would not play at the real-cash games. NO, it's not that he could not afford it, he has a job, and even if he gets fired from his 8 to 5 job, his wife is one of Israel's most famous doctors.
Anyway, let me say this, you as the gambler should have the drive to improve, just playing per se should not be your objective. Well, playing at the free poker rooms might be meaningless at first impressions, but really, they are not. Winning a thousand bucks (or losing) worth of play chips might be meaningless, but if you aim to improve your poker techniques, there is something to be said for it.
Fact is, techniques wise, my friend Christopher is already a strong one, he could very well buy in for THIS YEAR'S WSOP if he wishes, but he will not. That would take him away from his daily playing at the free poker rooms.
